Creating a Garden Theme at Home

If you love the outdoors and you want to bring it in then you can by creating a garden theme for your interior design. Here are a few things that you can do to create an excellent garden theme at your home.

Nature is the best thing to create the light aura which begins your theme. There are many things that can be used which include flowers, trees, shrubs, grasses, and creepers. During the holidays the Christmas trees can be used too. Manmade versions of fake flowers and white Christmas trees can still duplicate the environment you are trying to create.

If you don’t have too much space then you can use wall art. You don’t have to have live plants and prelit Christmas trees to create the mood. Choose photos and pictures that represent the idea you are trying to create the special mood for. Use different types of art rather than focusing on the same things. You can use drawings, metal art, and other various things.

Stenciled artwork is another thing that you can use on the walls to create the mood on the walls. Some people cannot draw very well so this is not recommended if you are not a good artist. However, if you are skilled at drawing then try putting a few flowers and plants on the wall without overdoing it. The subtle approach is the best and you want to be sure that you don’t use colors that are too overpowering also.

When you decorate with a nature appearance you also need to remember the drapes and flooring. If your flooring is wood or tile then you want to accent it with rugs that match the designs you have chosen for the walls. You might go with plain colored rugs that match the green shrubbery colors or another color. However, be sure the rugs match or contrast well with the furniture that you have chosen.

The windows will also need treatments that match the rugs and the furniture. It is usually best to buy these things at the same time so you know they match. The window treatments should bring in as much light as possible. When you go for an environmental and nature look in your home then you want to take advantage of natural light. Natural light creates not only the mood but the feeling of outdoors also. Don’t use window treatments that cover up all of the light. The best treatments are those that are sheer so the light can still shine in naturally.

There are many things that you can do to create a nature scene or theme in your home in order to bring the outside in your home. These things include decorating with actual plants and flowers throughout your home. Trees are many people’s favorite but often times they grow too large. If you are not good with plants and find that they die under your care you might want to go with flowers and plant artwork in the form of stencils painted on the walls or decorations that you can hang. This can help you create them. Keep in mind that with a nature theme you want to bring in as much light as you can without it being bothersome.
